Security Window Film for Texas Schools & Commercial Buildings
3M authorized dealer installing Ultra S800, S140 and S240 safety and security film — hardening campus entries, classroom glass and storefront glazing so a break-in becomes a loud, slow, visible failure instead of a two-second entry.
Quick Answer
Security window film is a thick, optically clear laminate bonded to the inside face of existing glass. It does not stop the glass from breaking — it keeps the broken glass in the frame, so an intruder has to strike and tear the same panel repeatedly to get through. Alpha Shield is a 3M authorized dealer installing 3M Ultra S800, S140 and S240 for Texas school districts and commercial buildings, to IWFA installation standards.
Key Takeaways

- ▸ Awarded TIPS vendor and EPIC 6 cooperative purchasing — no separate procurement required.
3M Authorized Dealer
3M Ultra S800, S140 & S240 Security Film
The 3M Ultra series is built from hundreds of tear-resistant micro-layers rather than one thick sheet of polyester. That construction is why it keeps flexing and holding after the glass beneath it has already failed. As an authorized dealer we install genuine 3M product, which is what keeps the manufacturer warranty and the published forced-entry data attached to your building.
3M Ultra S800
8 mil micro-layered
Best for: Interior classroom vision panels, office sidelites, door lites
- ▸ Hundreds of tear-resistant micro-layers instead of a single thick polyester sheet
- ▸ Stays intact and keeps flexing after the glass fractures
- ▸ Optically clear — daylight, sightlines and classroom appearance unchanged
- ▸ The value tier for high-count interior openings on a district budget
3M Ultra S140
14 mil micro-layered
Best for: Main entry vestibules, front office glass, ground-floor storefront
- ▸ Our standard specification for exterior entry glazing on campuses
- ▸ Pairs with structural wet-glaze attachment for maximum forced-entry delay
- ▸ Holds shattered glass in the opening through repeated strikes
- ▸ Also resists wind-borne debris during severe Texas weather
3M Ultra S240
Heaviest Ultra series laminate
Best for: High-risk entries, cash handling, government and utility glazing
- ▸ Top of the Ultra line for the openings that must hold the longest
- ▸ Specified where the threat profile or insurance requirement demands it
- ▸ Combined with attachment systems for a fully engineered opening
- ▸ Clear finish — no bars, no shutters, no change to the building's look
Credentials That Back the Specification

3M Authorized Window Film Dealer
We buy, specify and install genuine 3M Ultra film — not look-alike product — which is what makes the manufacturer warranty and the published test data actually apply to your building.

IWFA-Compliant Installation
Our work follows International Window Film Association standards for surface prep, film handling, edge gaps and attachment — the same practices district specifications and architects reference.
Skin Cancer Foundation Recommended Films
3M window films carry The Skin Cancer Foundation's Seal of Recommendation as an effective UV protectant, blocking up to 99% of UV rays that reach students and staff through glass.
Veteran-owned, 30 years in the trade, and a 3M authorized dealer — the same crew that quotes your project installs it and returns for warranty service.

School Districts
How We Work With Texas School Districts
Campus glass is the softest point on nearly every school building in the state. Unfilmed tempered glazing converts to gravel and clears the opening in one to three seconds. Filmed glazing fractures but stays in the frame, forcing an intruder into a sustained, noisy, visible effort — and those minutes are the entire premise of a lockdown protocol.
We prioritize by exposure instead of treating every pane equally: entry vestibules, front office glass, ground-floor classroom lites and portable buildings first. That is how districts get meaningful protection inside a real budget.
- ▸ District-wide and single-campus rollouts across Texas
- ▸ Summer, weekend and after-hours scheduling so instruction is never interrupted
- ▸ Background-checked, badged crews and certificates of insurance on file before mobilization
- ▸ Itemized per-opening quantities and pricing for bond, grant and allotment submissions
- ▸ Manufacturer spec sheets and forced-entry test data supplied for district records
- ▸ Per-campus completion documentation, photos and warranty paperwork at handoff
Commercial
Commercial & Institutional Security Film
The same Ultra films that harden a campus entry protect storefront, lobby and ground-floor glass against smash-and-grab, vandalism and storm debris — without bars, shutters or any visible change to the building.
- ▸ Storefront and ground-floor retail glass targeted by smash-and-grab
- ▸ Office lobbies, reception glass and interior conference glazing
- ▸ Medical, dental and pharmacy entries
- ▸ Warehouse, utility and municipal facility glass
- ▸ Banks, credit unions and cash-handling windows
- ▸ Houses of worship and daycare entries
Security Film Questions We Get From Districts
What is the difference between 3M Ultra S800, S140 and S240?
They differ in thickness and how much abuse the laminate absorbs before it tears. S800 is an 8 mil micro-layered film we use on interior vision panels and lower-risk openings. S140 is a 14 mil laminate and our standard for exterior entry glazing. S240 is the heaviest of the Ultra series for the highest-risk openings. All three are optically clear and use 3M's tear-resistant micro-layer construction rather than a single thick polyester sheet.
Does security window film stop bullets?
No. Security film is a forced-entry delay and injury-reduction product, not a ballistic system. It keeps shattered glass in the frame so an intruder must strike and tear repeatedly, which converts a two-second breach into a loud, sustained attack that a lockdown can absorb. For ballistic resistance, see our C-Bond bullet resistant film system.
Which Texas school districts have you installed for?
We have installed safety and security film for districts and institutions including Comal ISD, PSJA ISD, Montgomery ISD, Judson ISD, Hutto ISD, Kerrville ISD, Edinburg CISD, El Paso ISD, Kingsville ISD, Edna ISD, Lovelady ISD, Goliad, Harmony Public Schools and Texas Children's Hospital.
Are you on a cooperative purchasing contract?
Yes. We are an awarded TIPS vendor and work through EPIC 6 cooperative purchasing, which lets Texas districts buy without running a separate procurement.
Why does the attachment system matter?
Film is bonded to the glass, not to the building. In a shallow glazing stop a determined attacker can push a filmed pane out as one sheet. A structural silicone wet-glaze bead or mechanical batten transfers load from the film into the frame, and that is what produces the largest measured delay increase.
What does IWFA compliance mean for my project?
The International Window Film Association publishes the accepted standards for film installation — substrate preparation, mounting solution, edge gap, cure time and attachment detailing. Following them is what keeps film from bubbling, hazing or peeling years later, and it is what specification writers expect to see in a bid response.
Will security film darken our classrooms or offices?
Clear Ultra film changes almost nothing visually. If you also have a heat or glare problem, we can specify a combination solar-security film that adds heat rejection in the same installation.
How is security film funded by school districts?
Districts commonly fund it through safety and security allotments, bond packages and state school safety grants. We provide the itemized per-opening documentation those programs require.
How long does an installation take?
A single entry vestibule is typically a day. A full campus depends on opening count and is normally sequenced across a summer or a series of weekends so no instructional time is lost.
Do you serve districts outside Montgomery County?
Yes. Our shop is at 5523 FM 1488, Suite C in Magnolia, and we install security film statewide — we have completed campus work from El Paso to the Rio Grande Valley to Houston.
